Trideum Corporation is pleased to announce that Tammie F. Smiley has been selected to serve a two-year term as a member of the Women in Defense (WID) Special Advisor Committee. In this role, Ms. Smiley will provide strategic guidance, expertise, and perspectives on national security while supporting the mission and initiatives of Women in Defense.
Women in Defense is an affiliate of the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA) established to engage, cultivate, and advance professionals across all aspects of national security. WID provides opportunities for professionals to deepen their understanding of and relationships within the U.S. defense and national security community through professional development, relationship building, leadership development, and career advancement.
With members representing industry, the U.S. Armed Forces, government agencies, academia, think tanks, associations, and professional services organizations, WID brings together current and emerging thought leaders across the defense and security sectors. Through national and chapter-level educational programs, awards, scholarships, and collaborative initiatives—including Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB) and Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) initiatives—WID fosters an environment that empowers professionals to grow and contribute to the national security enterprise.
Ms. Smiley brings more than 20 years of experience in Modeling and Simulation (M&S) supporting the Department of War and the broader national security community. She earned her Certified Modeling and Simulation Professional (CMSP) certification in 2009 and has built a distinguished career in systems engineering, solution architecture, systems integration, verification and validation, interoperability, and emerging technologies.
She currently serves as a Senior Solutions Architect at Trideum Corporation, supporting U.S. Space Command (SPACECOM). Throughout her career, Ms. Smiley has supported numerous Department of War organizations and missions, including the Army Modeling and Simulation Office (AMSO), Night Vision and Electronic Sensors Directorate (NVESD), National Simulation Center (NSC), Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA), Joint and Army Modeling and Simulation Division (JAMSD), Mission Training Complexes at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, and Fort Stewart, Georgia, and the Joint Multinational Simulation Center (JMSC) in Grafenwoehr, Germany.
In addition to her professional responsibilities, Ms. Smiley is recognized for her extensive leadership and service within the defense, modeling and simulation, professional, civic, and community sectors. She currently serves as the 2026 Chair of the I/ITSEC Simulation Committee, a member of the CMSP Certification Board, and a member of the CMSP Engagement Committee. She also serves on the Boards of Directors for Grounds for Hope, the Ivy Foundation of Northern Virginia, Inc., and the Alfred Street Baptist Church Foundation.
Guided by her belief that her purpose is to “serve all mankind,” Ms. Smiley has been an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, for 32 years, demonstrating a longstanding commitment to leadership, service, mentorship, and community impact.
Her selection to the Women in Defense Special Advisor Committee reflects her continued commitment to advancing the national security profession, strengthening professional relationships across the defense community, and creating opportunities for current and future generations of defense and security leaders.
